Chassis No. 7R02C236359 In 1967, Ford revamped the Mustang and while it maintained its 108-inch wheelbase, it was both longer and wider. A light exterior redesign gave the new Mustang a more aggressive look while improvements were made to the handling and a dual braking system was introduced. The front grille was enlarged and the rear taillight panel was concave with larger lights. Across all three body styles, simulated rear scoops were integrated, complemented by optional recessed panels on the hood featuring rear-facing turn signal lights. Notably, the dashboard underwent a comprehensive redesign as well. The result, especially as a Fastback, was a sporting Mustang, one ripe for enhancements from Shelby American or other period tuners. Today, vintage Fastback Mustangs are an ideal platform for those seeing to emulate the period modifications that made these vintage cars famous on the street and track. The conversion of this 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback from street car to track car began with a donor vehicle sourced from San Diego, California USA in late 2009. Shortly after arrival, and over the next three years, it underwent conversion to a street legal track weapon, one specifically built to lap the world-famous Nürburgring Nordschleife. To begin with, the car was completely disassembled and the unibody separated from its front and rear subframes. Originally finished in Lime Gold Metallic, the unibody, in a very clean state, was stripped and placed on a dolly to receive a full, front to rear Wiechers Sport roll cage fabricated from CrMo4. The car was then refinished in period correct Wimbledon White, the ultimate color for a 1960s performance Ford. According to the documentation, with the body sufficiently strengthened, a bevy of high-quality, track-focused parts were installed. A dyno-tuned 6.4-liter V8 from Ford Racing Performance with Kestec racing fuel injection was selected to power this Mustang and with 490 ps (approximately 483 horsepower or 358 KW) it is certainly up to the task, breathing though its custom stainless-steel exhaust! The engine is mated to a five-speed Tremec TKO manual transmission with dual-friction Centerforce clutch said to be able to handle up to 590 lb-ft of torque. Cross drilled and ventilated Brembo brakes under 18-inch Ford FR500 wheels, and Total Control Products front coilovers with Varishock aluminum shocks help to harness the thrust created by the formidable power team. The interior features custom panels and switchgear along with Recaro Profi SPG seats, Schroth belts, and AP pedals and shift linkage. A 100-liter ATL fuel cell rounds out the sub-1500 kilogram package where, according to documentation, over 150,000 EUR was spent during the restoration. Today, this well-built Mustang Fastback located in Germany features just over 4,000 kilometers since the completion of the build and includes an additional set of wheels shod with Dunlop slicks. It should additionally be noted that these modifications have been officially entered into the German registration documents, further evidence that this Mustang build has been executed with great attention to detail from start to finish.
