At Peet Classics we have a thing for the Volvo Amazon. A love with a long past. And let's face it: the Amazon has just about everything you can expect from a classic car from the sixties. It looks attractive, has good driving characteristics and the build quality is above average. Of course, Volvo also paid a lot of attention to the safety of the occupants at the time. That's why the Amazon is so solidly built.

But the Volvo Amazon also lends itself to simple adjustments. Modifications that take the performance to a much higher level, so that you can also handle today's traffic. The driving characteristics can also be easily improved with simple aids. It's not for nothing that the Amazon is still very popular for classic rallies and historic touring. The car drives excellently – and does not break down.

Peet Classics adds a very special Volvo Amazon to the collection. This example dates from 1969, and has undergone a major restoration a few years ago – in which Peter van Egmond was closely involved. During the restoration, the focus was on daily use. The body was completely blasted, plated and extensively welded, as is customary with rally cars. All this to get even more rigidity in the body, which improves the driving characteristics. The body of the Amazon was then thoroughly prepared and painted in the attractive light blue Steel Blue Metallic paintwork. The light-alloy 'Minilites' from Panasport Racing with modern Vredestein radial tires also contribute to the very usable and surprisingly good driving characteristics of the Amazon.

A 1969 Volvo Amazon is not the standard model of luxury and comfort. Something was done about that during the restoration of the car: a thick sound-proof insulation mat already brings the noise level down, and thanks to the comfortable Recaro seats (with heating!) you are almost literally like a king. During the construction of the interior, a tasteful combination of dark brown leather and Alcantara was chosen, which forms a beautiful contrast with the light blue paint of the body and dashboard. The Moto-Lita sports steering wheel is also covered with dark brown leather, the floor of the car is covered with dark brown velvet carpet.

The Amazon has also undergone a number of modifications under the skin to improve user-friendliness. The B20 engine is fed by Weber carburettors. A reliable choice, in combination with the modern LPG installation that the Amazon is equipped with. Also reliable is the upgraded braking system, with a separate circuit and discs all around (from the Volvo P1800). Power steering simplifies life in busy city traffic and parking lots. The shock absorbers are from the Proflex brand and fully adjustable in terms of damping.

After completing the major professional restoration, the owner has spared no expense in maintaining the technique and the condition of the bodywork. The condition of the car underlines the quality of the restoration.

It is Peet Classics a privilege to be able to offer this Volvo Amazon. A car that you can enjoy for many years to come. Contact us for more information or to make an appointment.
