Jaguar's XJ production line has been around since 1968. This was extended for several consecutive years, but finally ended in the year 2019. Through these decades, many varying versions have been released. It first started with the Series 1. After this came both the Series 2 and the Series 3. What followed was another designation. These were the X series. The first one was called the XJ40. Then came several more models called the X300, X308, X350, X358 and finally the X351. An electric model of the XJ was also in the planning, but ultimately did not make it to production. The model in question was the X350 line. These were produced from 2003-2007. It was offered with a 3.0L V6, 3.5L V8, 4.2L V8, 4.2L supercharged V8 or a 2.7L V6 diesel engine.
What set the X350 apart from previous cars was the use of an all-aluminium body. After paint application and full assembly, Jaguar said this resulted in an overall weight saving of about 12% compared to a steel-bodied car.
On display here is a 2007 Jaguar XJ 3.5 V8 Sovereign LWB. We are not talking about your everyday Jaguar X350 here - as mentioned earlier, the LWB stands for "Long Wheelbase". This means that the car's dimensions are larger than the base model. For instance, the overall length of the car is about 12.5cm longer. From what the title says, the wheelbase is also larger. This, like the length of the car, differs by about 12.5cm.
This British sedan was delivered new in Dubai to a Dutchman working there. This person brought it to the Netherlands in 2010 and registered it on Dutch registration plates for the first time. Various documents from its previous life abroad are present to prove that it has always been well maintained and cared for. It is finished in a beautiful Metallic Pearl paint with an Ivory coloured interior. Both of these are still of nice quality and radiate solidity and luxury. Inside the car, there are several interesting options. For starters, there is the very comfortable ivory leather upholstery with brown piping. Due to the fact that the model is an LWB, the rear passengers have a lot of space at their disposal. The extra options the car comes with include:
- Alpine sound system,
- Seat heating both front and rear
- Skylight
- Dual automatic climate control
At the back of the car in the armrest, there is a multimedia system. Here, the rear passengers can adjust audio and video (when applicable).
Underneath the car there are beautiful 20" 5-spoke alloy wheels. These sporty rims are still of fine quality.
Under the bonnet is the familiar 3.5-litre Jaguar AJ-V8. It produces around 261hp and is a good example of a combination between powerful and comfortable driving. The engine is mated to a 6-speed ZF automatic transmission. This functions together with the engine, very smoothly.
In terms of documentation, there are several papers present. To start with, there are several manuals applicable, along with a completed service booklet. In addition, there are several invoices along with inspections present. There has been an MOT very recently, which the Jaguar passed without any problems.
