1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider Competition Ex Bill Croxson / Justin Murphy
Alfa Romeo had great success in the early years of motoring producing some of the best cars of the prewar era for both racing and road use. They were generally larger cars and built in small number but this changed after the war with the launch of the Giulietta in 1954 and later the Giulia which transformed the company into an economically viable and successful firm. Neither a utility car such as the fiat 500 nor a hugely expensive car the Alfa struck a perfect balance in the middle of the market that it made its own and both models were very successful.
The Giulia Veloce, with its 1600cc engine and hot engine giving greater power output was the final and most developed variant of the line. With its twin cam engine, twin Weber carburetors, high compression head and hot cams – performance was much improved over the standard model. This was the car of choice for the budding racer.
This 1964 Giulia Spider Veloce is the perfect car for anybody interest in historic motorsport as it has been very well prepared and raced for the past 30 years, driven with great success by William Croxson and later Justin Murphy.
The car is in excellent, ready to go condition, the pictures speak for themselves, the power delivery is excellent and the 155 bhp engine is an absolute gem. The car also benefits from being road registers so it would also be an excellent entrant for rallies and fast road use.
