Designed during Pininfarina’s golden age, the 275 was elegantly simplistic yet subtly aggressive. The designers masterfully married aerodynamic lines with characteristic racing features, fully incorporating a spoiler into the boot lid. 4 Cams featured all the comforts of a road car with the Le Mans bred engine of a true prancing horse. We have a long and detailed history of this car from both Tony Willis and Marcel Massini which highlights its excellent provenance. In a recent phone call, Tony remarked at how proudly the car sits in its present, beautiful condition.
Originally, this 275 was purchased by Giuseppe Pagni, an ex-AC Milan and Fanfulla footballer, residing in Milan for 6,500,000 Italian Lire through the official Ferrari dealer M.G. Crepaldi Automobili. Crepaldi was the foremost Ferrari dealer supplying the latest Ferrari’s to Milan’s most fashionable clientele. Classiche documentation confirms that during this time, the car returned to the factory where the engine block was replaced with a new, unused block and stamped for classification purposes with the correct number. This work was carried out in the late 1960s, probably whilst the car was still under warranty. The car left Italy in 1971 to reside in the US where it had a 10-year stint before returning to Europe. Upon its return, in the 1980s it was registered in Switzerland to esteemed dealer Albrecht Guggisberg of Oldtimer-Garage Ltd. who drove it at the Grand Prix of Gollion in 1988. Guggisberg was highly thought of in the Car world and has owned most of the important collector cars over the years and had a particularly keen interest in Ferraris. At this time, Oldtimer-Garage was a veritable Mecca for enthusiasts and many other dealers relied on Albrecht for his expertise and technical knowledge. Oldtimer had the car advertised in Ferrari Market Letter and at auctions from 1988-2002 when it was bought by Gaspare Barresi. Barresi was a businessman based in Bern, Switzerland and upon delivery commissioned a full restoration by SD Autoconstruzioni in Torino, Italy whereby it was finished in the quintessential Ferrari combination of red over tan and retrofitted with cleverly hidden air conditioning. He campaigned the car at the Montreux Grand Prix races in 2002 and in 2006. It was next shown at the inaugural Villa d’Este auction by RM Sotheby’s in 2011 where it was purchased by British dealer Tom Hartley. Hartley then sold the car through Specialist Cars in Hertfordshire where it was bought by Matthew Munson who registered it on English plates, had it repainted to Grigio Ferro by XK Engineering, and showed it at Goodwood Revival still with its beige interior. In October of 2011, it was re-trimmed with the present iteration Pelle Rossa (Bordeaux) leather by the legendary Luppi of Modena and underwent a further refurbishment at Bob Houghton in December of the same year. 09495 was Classiche certified on the 5th of June 2013. Munson sold the car to Graeme Earl who enjoyed the car for a few years before selling it via JD Classics to Tom Walduck.
Tom was the most recent owner and dear friend of many in the British motoring world but unfortunately passed away in 2018 before he could truly enjoy the car. He had a prolific collection over the years including a Ferrari 275 GTB 6c, a Ferrari 275 GTS, a Jaguar D-Type, a Jaguar C-Type and more AC Cobras than bares counting. He competed in the Mille Miglia in a beautiful Hispano Suiza, and participated in numerous Cento Ore and Tour Auto rallies. His passion for AC Cobras was shared by his wife who was often seen competing in her own car. He bought this 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB 4 in late 2017 and was excited to have had such a prestigious car in his collection.
09495 is a desirable model in pristine condition with completely untouched bodywork. The vehicle hasn’t been in any accidents so the curves are all original, sitting just as they were formed on the bucks in 1967. The car is presented with its original tool roll, full set of books and Ferrari Classiche.
