Lagonda first presented the M45 at the Olympia Show in 1933. The model has a Meadows engine block that is 4,453 cc in size and is slightly modified by Lagonda. The model name is therefore also immediately explained. The rear axle is made a bit heavier for the M45 and a gearbox is taken from the shelves of Meadows. The Lagonda M45 records several victories in various sports classes and is in the news when Lord de Clifford manages to arrive in Brindisi much earlier in a race against a train to Greece.
In 1935, the English drivers Johnny Hindmarsh and Luis Fontes even managed to win Le Mans with a Lagonda M45R Rapide. Partly due to all those successes, the M45 is an instant 'hit'. The car gets rave reviews in almost every magazine and the engine is one of the often cited reasons. The four-and-a-half liter manages to squeeze out about 115 hp, considerably more than the 78 hp of the three-liter. It's a huge asset at the time. Mr Meadows is working hard and twice a week engines and gearboxes are delivered to Lagonda, the demand is huge.

The M45 you see here started life in 1934 as the M45 Pillarless Saloon. A few decades later, an extensive restoration was started, during which the car was professionally converted into a four-seater Open Tourer at the same time. Engine, transmission, suspension, absolutely everything is restored to new condition. This is done at a renowned specialist who is at home in this type of conversion and restoration work.
The body is made of aluminum and painted in British Racing Green, as is the engineering to the very highest standard. All instruments, controls, gauges, upholstery and other details are 100% correct for this car and in perfect condition.

The Lagonda is a pleasure to travel with. A car from the 1930s is a huge time capsule, transporting occupants and bystanders back to a time when everything was different. The sound of the engine, the feel of the materials used and the appearance of details such as the instruments on the dashboard and the abundance of chrome: few cars can provide so much relaxation and that 'away from the present time' feeling. Whether you're going for a long weekend touring the coast of Great Britain with all the time in the world or fancy a thrilling ride with beautiful intake and exhaust sounds and the pleasant handling and opening to all natural elements due to the small windscreen: enjoy it to the full few cars go better than with this Lagonda M45.

This Lagonda is ready for many fantastic adventures and the exterior and technical condition ensure that these adventures will only be positive. A truly fantastic car that you actually have to see in person to fully understand it. You are very welcome in Brummen.
