Porsche 356 C Rally

The 356, that's basically what it all started with in the early 50s. The primal Porsche! A (certainly for its time) fast coupe with maximum pressure on the driven wheels. Thanks in part to its low weight, it was immediately competitive in just about all motorsport classes. Eventually, the 356 evolved until the arrival of the illustrious 911, which still used the same concept, only with 2 more cylinders. The 356 C was the last series and was eventually delivered until shortly after the introduction of the 911. Fitted with disc brakes as standard and available from 75hp to 130hp in the 2000 GS Carrera and even 160hp in the Carrera GT.

According to the Cardex, the 356C offered here was delivered in December 1964 by German dealer Gramling in Karlsruhe to Mr Fritz Tangermann. Equipped with "wide" Dunlop tyres in size 165-15 and in the colour Irischgrun. In 1969, the car was fitted with a new engine as was common at the time, since most engines were used up before the 100,000km mark.

Meanwhile, the car has been fitted with a fast and original Super 90 engine and given a real rally preparation. I.e. a roll bar, fire extinguisher, reading lamp, separate brake system, 4-point belts, bucket seats and wide rims (5.5x15 with 185-70-15 tyres). The front and rear bumper have been removed but are supplied separately with the car.
All this is also recorded in the included FIVA passport. The gearbox is still matching with the car!

The 356 has been restored at some point in the past. No details of this are known, but overall the car still looks very good and, according to the appraiser, all work was expertly carried out.

Our opinion
Surely, a Rally 356 is one of the ultimate classic rally cars. Fast, agile and reliable. Restoring, preparing and building a good rally car now costs a small fortune. We therefore think that this, Original German! 356 is a great offer for someone who intends to drive classic rallies or just wants to show off a cool 356 and make nice trips.

Remarks
This 356C is in good condition. The car has few signs of use, as can be seen in the photos. No longer original as from the factory, but prepared for classic rallies

Recent maintenance history
The 356 has been maintained throughout and received regular servicing and maintenance before participating in events. The last service was carried out some years ago, so we recommend a service before commissioning
