Only 37 units of the BMW 501 Baur Cabriolet with a six-cylinder engine were produced. This is one of them, and it is also in beautifully restored condition, accompanied by all the history and documents, as well as BMW's certificate. In short, it's a BMW 501 as you'd like to see it and, at the same time, rarely come across. The most recent owner kept it for an impressive 32 years.

This is a 1955 501. According to the 'Zertifikat' from BMW Mobile Tradition, the BMW was produced on June 20, 1955, and delivered three days later to the first owner, Friedrich Vise & Co, in Aachen, to be precise.

Now, 78 years later, the car looks as if it is ready be delivered to a first owner by us once again: in mint condition, is the what we are trying to say! In the past, the car was beautifully and professionally restored to a high standard. The fresh blue paint color suits the car exceptionally gracefully, and it enhances the round body lines to their fullest. The condition of the bodywork can only be described as being very good, without any issues and with beautiful panel fit and alignment

The interior of the 501 is also beautiful and has the same almost Baroque-like appearance as the exterior. Beautiful gauges and details, housed in a beautifully blue-painted dashboard. In contrast, the steering wheel, a work of art in itself, is ivory-colored. The steering wheel is stunning, with a slight patina that emphasizes the originality and quality of the car. This patina can also be found when examining the beautiful blue leather upholstery. It's clear that the quality here is of a very high level, and the patina is limited to a beautiful shine and some lovely character in the leather. What an atmosphere, what a journey back to the 1950s, and what an awareness of how people at that time chose 'only the best is good enough'!

The technology of the 501-6, where 'strich-sechs' stands for the straight-six cylinder engine, has been perfectly maintained. The car comes with a stack of invoices, and it becomes clear after only driving a few meters that we are dealing with top-quality. Comfort, smoothness, a powerful engine, and perfectly functioning technology, including the suspension, brakes, and steering, make for a real treat!

The BMW 501 comes with a folder full of history, documents, correspondence between (former) owners, invoices, and certificates. In short, if you are looking for a fantastic, rare, and luxurious convertible from the 1950s, you can hardly ignore this Baur Cabriolet.
