Historics' Spring Spectacular: 7th March 2026
Historics starts the auction year with a mighty hurrah at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 7th March, pulling out all the stops for its 2026 auction opener with a feast of 200+ hugely varied classics and collector cars spanning nine decades.
From an evocative piece of nostalgia in the shape of a 1926 Ford Model T to a Mercedes-Benz G350 born just ten years ago, the entry is pin-sharp with wonderful classics to strike a chord with the hearts and minds of one and all.
High up on the collectible stakes is an exquisite, fully documented 1957 Porsche 356 A Speedster, which heads a tremendous selection of Stuttgart’s finest. And on the British sporting stakes, don’t miss the impeccable 1968 Aston Martin DB6 Volanté, ripe for top-down enjoyment, and one of a showcase of stunning Astons to savour, dating from 1959 to 1992.
Exquisite Bertone design is at the fore with a stunning 1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale, this extremely rare RHD example showing less than 63,000 miles, whilst Pininfarina’s achingly attractive 1976 Ferrari 308 ‘Vetroresina’, the worthy successor to the Ferrari Dino, is fully primed for the open road.
To many the BMW CSL homologation special will always be the ultimate in the marque’s line-up, and the 1974 example on sale here in concours condition is an absolute stunner in its super-rare ‘Ceylon Gold’ coachwork.
Historics has assembled an eye-watering selection of no less than 20 Classic Jaguars including a glorious, hand-built, totally bespoke 1959 Jaguar Special powered by an XK150 engine and featuring the immense skills of its 2017 creator, an aluminium fabrication specialist.
A stark contrast in the design stakes but no less desirable is a rare and highly affordable 1978 Volkswagen Type 181 Trekker, amusingly named ‘The Thing’ on the USA market, whilst, staying Stateside, a true ‘poster car’ 1972 Dodge Charger ‘Special Edition’ from North Carolina just reeks of US muscle heritage and rarity value.
Finally in this brief plunge into the superb sale entry, Historics never disappoints in bringing a sense of drama to its live auctions and there’s plenty here to fit that category. How about the 1955 DAF YA 328 canvas-topped military off-road vehicle for the weekly shop, or perhaps an eye-popping example of the world’s largest pick-up, a 2005 International Navistar CXT 7300 four-door crew cab powered by a 7.6 litre turbocharged straight-six, believed to be the only example in the UK.
Meanwhile, plucked from a hedge and immaculately restored to show condition is a 1973 Bond Bug 750 ES, a wonderful tribute to the storming microcar market and to its designer Tom Karen of Ogle Design (who also penned the iconic Raleigh Chopper).
Be sure to take a good look at the entire 200+ entry, and register to bid; in-hall, by phone and online - at www.historics.co.uk
The sale commences at 9.30 am on Saturday 7th March, preceded by three full viewing days. Entry is by catalogue on the door.
