Mick Jagger's Remarkable Car Collection

As one of the most iconic frontmen in music history, Mick Jagger has enjoyed a career spanning more than six decades with The Rolling Stones. Alongside his legendary status on stage, Jagger has also owned an impressive selection of luxury and performance cars, reflecting both his success and his understated approach to motoring. Rather than building an enormous collection, he has favoured a handful of elegant, high-quality automobiles from some of the world's most prestigious manufacturers.

Among the most famous cars associated with Jagger is the beautiful Aston Martin DB6, a quintessential British grand tourer that perfectly matched the style and sophistication of the 1960s. He has also been linked with the iconic Aston Martin DB5, a model forever associated with British motoring heritage, and a symbol of timeless design and engineering excellence.

Over the years, Jagger has also owned a number of desirable Mercedes-Benz models, along with luxury saloons and grand tourers designed for comfortable long-distance travel. A Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III was a fitting choice for one of Britain's biggest rock stars, the Silver Cloud III offered handcrafted luxury and a smooth V8 engine. It reflected Jagger's preference for elegant grand touring rather than flashy supercars.

While many celebrities gravitate towards flamboyant supercars, Jagger has generally preferred refined performance, combining effortless power with everyday usability and classic styling. A Ford Galaxie 500 XL Convertible was an unusual addition to his garage, this big American convertible is believed to have been one of Jagger's early purchases during the band's rise to fame in the 1960s.

Unlike some collectors who maintain vast private museums, Mick Jagger's automotive interests have remained relatively discreet. His cars have reflected his lifestyle rather than becoming the focus of it, with quality, craftsmanship and prestige taking precedence over extravagance. This restrained approach has only added to the enduring appeal of his automotive choices.

Whether it's a classic Aston Martin or a luxurious Mercedes-Benz, Mick Jagger's cars embody the same timeless qualities that have defined his extraordinary career. Elegant, enduring and unmistakably British, his collection remains a fascinating reminder that true style never goes out of fashion.

The 1955 Mille Miglia: The Greatest Road Race Ever Run

As we look ahead to the centenary of the Mille Miglia in 2027, we take a nostalgic look back today at the 1955 Mille Miglia, widely regarded as the most famous edition of Italy's legendary 1,000-mile road race. Covering almost 1,000 miles (1,600km) on public roads from Brescia to Rome and back, the event attracted the world's finest drivers and manufacturers, all competing at breathtaking speeds through towns, villages and mountain passes. It was a remarkable display of endurance, courage and engineering, taking place during what many enthusiasts consider the golden age of motorsport.

The race belonged to Mercedes-Benz and one man in particular; Stirling Moss. Paired with his trusted navigator Denis Jenkinson, Moss piloted the revolutionary Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR to one of the greatest victories in motorsport history. Guided by Jenkinson's innovative pace notes, recorded on a long scroll of paper, the pair completed the entire course in an astonishing 10 hours, 7 minutes and 48 seconds, averaging an incredible 97.96mph (157.65km/h) on ordinary public roads.

Mercedes-Benz dominated the event, with Juan Manuel Fangio finishing second in another 300 SLR after an impressive drive of his own. The result demonstrated the superiority of the German marque's engineering, while Moss's performance cemented his reputation as one of the greatest racing drivers of all time. Even by today's standards, the average speed achieved over such demanding roads remains almost unimaginable.

The 1955 Mille Miglia also showcased some of the era's most beautiful competition cars. Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche and Lancia all fielded formidable entries, creating an unforgettable spectacle for the millions of spectators who lined the route. The combination of powerful machines, fearless drivers and unrestricted public roads produced one of the most thrilling races ever witnessed.

More than 70 years later, the 1955 Mille Miglia continues to be celebrated as the defining chapter in the history of the famous Italian road race. Stirling Moss's record-breaking victory has never been surpassed, and the event remains a symbol of motorsport's most adventurous era. Today, the Mille Miglia survives as one of the world's most prestigious historic motoring events, honouring the cars, drivers and extraordinary achievements that made the 1955 race truly legendary.
