Broad Arrow’s Inaugural Audrain: $8.3 Million in Sales

Broad Arrow Auctions made its debut as the official auction partner of Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week on 2 October 2026, bringing a diverse selection of 65 collector cars to the historic International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. The inaugural sale featured everything from significant pre-war American motoring icons to desirable Italian sports cars and modern supercars, attracting strong interest from collectors. With 57 cars ultimately finding new owners, including one post-auction sale, the event achieved an overall sell-through rate of approximately 88%. Published results totalled $8.317 million across the 56 vehicles with disclosed sale prices.

1914 Stutz 4E Bearcat | Sold Price: $1,875,000

The star of the auction was a 1914 Stutz 4E Bearcat, which sold for $1,875,000, making it the highest-priced car of the sale. Offered with a documented ownership history stretching back to its original owner, the distinctive pre-war sporting car had previously formed part of several prominent American collections, including those of Winthrop Rockefeller and William F. Harrah. Its result demonstrated continued demand for historically significant early automobiles with compelling provenance.

2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia | Sold Price: $538,500

Modern performance cars also featured prominently among the leading results. A 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia achieved $538,500, followed by a 2022 McLaren 765LT Spider at $516,500. The Ferrari, one of the final-generation naturally aspirated V8 performance models from Maranello, attracted interest alongside the limited-production McLaren, whose 755bhp twin-turbocharged V8 and open-top configuration made it a standout contemporary supercar. Completing the top five was a 1970 Ferrari Dino 246 GT, which sold for $456,000, and a 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, which achieved $428,500.

2022 McLaren 765LT Spider | Sold Price: $516,500

The auction's five highest published results were therefore: 1. 1914 Stutz 4E Bearcat — $1,875,000; 2. 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia — $538,500; 3. 2022 McLaren 765LT Spider — $516,500; 4. 1970 Ferrari Dino 246 GT — $456,000; and 5. 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG — $428,500. Other notable sales included a 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione at $368,000. However, the results were not uniformly strong: two highly anticipated Mercedes-Benz 300 SLs, a 1956 Gullwing and a 1957 Roadster, failed to meet their reserves. A unique 1967 Bizzarrini GT America 2+2 Prototype was subsequently recorded as sold after the auction, although its final price was not disclosed.

Overall, Broad Arrow's first Audrain sale delivered a solid result, combining an important headline sale with competitive bidding for modern performance cars and sought-after Italian classics. The event further strengthened the relationship between the auction house and Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week, one of the United States' prominent automotive celebrations. With its varied catalogue and strong overall sell-through rate, the inaugural auction provided a useful snapshot of collector demand across different eras, while the unsold Mercedes-Benz models highlighted the importance of realistic expectations and reserve prices in today's discerning market.

Mike Hailwood’s Honda RC173 Featuring at Iconic Auction

One of the most significant motorcycles associated with legendary racer Mike Hailwood is set to attract considerable interest at the Iconic Auction at the NEC in November. The factory Honda RC173 350cc four-cylinder Grand Prix machine is the only example in existence, offering a rare opportunity to acquire an important piece of motorcycle racing history.

1966 Honda RC173 | Estimate £750,000 - £950,000

Born near Oxford in 1940, Hailwood became one of the greatest motorcycle racers of all time, winning nine World Championships, 76 Grand Prix races and 14 Isle of Man TT victories. He also enjoyed success on four wheels, finishing third at the 1969 Le Mans 24 Hours in a Ford GT40, before making his celebrated TT comeback in 1978. Tragically, Hailwood died in a road accident in 1981, aged just 40.

Honda built the RC173 specifically for Hailwood to contest the 350cc World Championship alongside his 250cc and 500cc campaigns. In 1966, he secured the title with victories at six Grands Prix, beating formidable rivals including Giacomo Agostini and Renzo Pasolini. Hailwood retained the machine after the season and raced it at selected invitation events in 1967.

The motorcycle later formed part of the Wheatcroft Donington Collection before being sold by the Hailwood family in 1997 to its current UK-based owner. Subsequently restored to running order, it was loaned to Honda’s Collection Hall in Motegi, Japan, in 2005, where it received a comprehensive chassis and engine rebuild while retaining its original matching engine and frame numbers.

Presented in running order, the Honda comes with an assortment of original and period-related accessories, specialist tools, documentation, photographs and Goodwood Festival of Speed memorabilia. Combining exceptional rarity with an illustrious competition history, this unique RC173 represents a remarkable opportunity for collectors to own a machine directly connected to one of motorcycle racing’s greatest champions at the Iconic Auction this November.

The Mike Hailwood Honda RC173 will be among more than 100 motorcycles offered at the Iconic Motorcycle Auction at the NEC Birmingham on 15 November. Showcasing an exceptional selection of historic, classic and collectible machines, the auction presents a fantastic opportunity for enthusiasts and collectors to discover some truly remarkable pieces of motorcycle history.
