Untouched and completely original! Originally purchased by the mother of the last owner, it has remained within one family for 42 years. Comes with extensive history, including all manuals, numerous maintenance invoices, and MOT documents. Rarely found in such rust-free condition. Recently had a major service, including a new timing belt and a fresh MOT, so it’s fully ready for many safe kilometers.

The GL was originally ordered with several desirable options, such as an automatic transmission, green heat-reducing glass, laminated windshield, and metallic paint. It wasn’t cheap at the time but was the best-quality car in its class. The doors close solidly, and the panel gaps are perfect. Still an outstanding car today, largely in its original paint. Accident-free, rust-free, and with almost no signs of use. The exterior looks stunning, appearing more like 5 years old than 42. The wheels still have their original chrome hubcaps.

The interior is completely original and nearly as new — a fantastic time capsule. The beautiful seats retain their original upholstery and are fully intact. The dashboard is scratch-free, and all gauges function correctly, including the Philips radio. The headliner, rear seats, and luggage cover are also fully intact, even after 42 years.

This Golf still drives wonderfully: comfortable, modern-feeling, and with that unmistakable sense of German solidity. Getting in feels like coming home — no wonder the Volkswagen Golf became Europe’s best-selling car. Much more fun, beautiful, and refined than the dull Kadett and Escort. The instruments are easy to read, the seats are spacious, and everything is simple to operate for the driver. The build quality was excellent then, and there is still not a single squeak or rattle — top-notch quality from the era.
