Launched in 1968, the Triumph TR6 marked a significant step forward for the marque, combining Michelotti’s purposeful styling with robust mechanicals and, in PI form, genuine performance. Restyled in 1969 by Karmann of Osnabrück, it adopted a full-width nose and squared-off tail, giving the car a more contemporary and purposeful appearance. Beneath the new bodywork, the chassis remained largely unchanged from the independently rear-suspended TR5, though handling was improved with wider wheels and the addition of a front anti-roll bar.

With Triumph’s own 2.5-litre Lucas fuel-injected straight-six producing 150bhp, combined with its strong chassis, the TR6 quickly proved itself as a capable competition car, becoming a popular choice in period for privateer racers and continuing to enjoy a long and successful life in historic motorsport.

This 1969 Triumph TR6 PI has been prepared and used as a historic race car and is eligible for a wide range of pre-1970 championships. It has been kept broadly in original form, benefitting from the usual and appropriate race upgrades throughout, allowing it to compete in series such as HSCC, where it held a valid passport, now expired. As it has spent the last decade in dry storage there is thankfully little to no evidence of rust, and no accident damage, making it a strong platform for competitive use.

Mechanically, the car has been carefully developed and maintained, enhanced with a new chassis, with suspension and engine work being carried out by renowned Triumph specialist Tony Lindsey-Dean. The result is a TR6 that is both quick, confidence-inspiring, and rewarding to drive. Having been dry stored since 2016, the car will be refreshed and prepared ready to race prior to sale, ensuring it is presented in proper, usable order. Notably, the car won its class at Oulton Park in HSCC competition the last time it competed in 2016, underlining its capability and competitiveness.

Finished in classic British Racing Green with a contrasting white hard top and white roundels, the car presents extremely well especially being de-bumpered, combining purposeful race preparation with an authentic period appearance. It is supplied with a selection of spares along with a set of spare wheels and tyres, further enhancing its appeal to anyone looking to go racing with minimal additional outlay.

The car is currently SORN but is accompanied by its V5C registration document and carries the registration UWK 314G. While prepared primarily as a circuit racer, it remains a versatile machine, equally suited to hill climbs, trials or demonstration events, and would also make a charismatic road-and-race proposition where regulations permit.

This is a well-sorted, proven and highly usable historic race car, offering strong eligibility, known preparation by a respected Triumph authority and a successful competition record. For the enthusiast seeking an engaging and competitive entry into historic racing, this TR6 represents an excellent opportunity and serious value.
