We are very pleased to bring to market this very rare BMW 328i Sport Automatic Coupe. Many would say that the 328i Sport was a better car than the legend that was the M3, as it was easier to drive and, in some people’s eyes, better looking. They may be right, as this is no ordinary car. If you know your stuff, you will know all about the BMW Individual programme. This was something that BMW offered back in the 1990s, which meant you could have a car built from the factory but to your own choice of bespoke specifications that were on offer from BMW. This, of course, came at a higher price than a standard example - quite a lot more - which made them very rare.
This BMW was supplied new to its first owner by Altwood Slough on 28/1/1998. The first owner had it for 8 months - we suspect it was the BMW dealer as one of their company cars - before entering the second owner’s care, who kept it for 27 years. The colour combination of this special BMW is Rosso Romantic Red with Champagne leather, a very striking combination and maybe unique. The 328 is completely factory standard, with the correct body kit, wheels (which are the 18” bolted cross spokes) and interior. The only thing that is different is that it has an upgraded Sony radio / CD, but this is easily changed if you wish, although it does sound rather well. The BMW drives very well and presents even better. This is greatly enhanced by the fact it is as it left the factory, and its condition which is especially nice and a credit to its previous owners. If we were to be critical, which is the fair thing to do, the headlining could do with re-sticking - it has had a temporary repair which is fine but to make perfect you would address it - and possibly give the driver’s seat a re-feed.
The paperwork is also very impressive - we have a full book pack with all the relevant handbooks and manuals, along with a service book containing 5 stamps and complete with the nice leather folder. The service history carries on with a collection of invoices and receipts, the last two are for an air conditioning service and some suspension parts in June 2025 at a cost of £1378 and a service in November 2025. They are accompanied by possibly every MOT it’s ever had as well. Adding to the collection is the advert from the BMW dealer when it was originally sold by them, and to finish off we have the spare keys too. Pretty much all you need with your classic BMW, but more importantly it shows how well it has been cared for.
If you are looking for a very rare E36 BMW 328i Sport, this could be the one for you. These cars are becoming very hard to find in this condition, with the individual specification, great looks and how nice and well-presented it is. This is a sure-fire future investment and a great car to own and drive, and you will probably be the only one like it at any show you turn up to. Don’t say we didn’t tell you!
