To celebrate Jaguar’s 1988 Le Mans victory, Jaguar produced two batches of celebratory cars. The second group of 280 cars arrived in 1990 based on the 5.3-litre V12 coupe. Number 224 of the 280 Le Mans edition variants of the XJ-S HE V12 was first registered on 28th March 1991 and supplied new by Dutton Forshaw Ashton On Ribble, Preston on 29th March 1991 to a Mr Jackson of Ruff Lane, Ormskirk. Powered by Jaguar’s ‘smooth as silk’ 5343cc V12 allied to a 3-speed automatic transmission, this sought-after Le Mans special edition presents, in what else, British Racing Green with a parchment (cream) leather interior and oatmeal carpets. Being the Le Mans edition of the XJ-S HE, they left the factory with the above plus gold coach lines, a gold bonnet badge and the Le Mans boot badge and a sports suspension.
Within the paperwork there’s a used car sales invoice from Rybrook Jaguar dating back to 1997. Subsequent years are referenced amongst the quantity of invoices on file. They include, from May 2018, refurbished new leather and carpet inserts, with the rest of the parchment (piped green) leather and carpet cleaned, degreased, resealed and refinished etc. at a cost of £1,488 and carried out by Leathercare Renovations Ltd, Warrington.
In February 2018, the Drive-In Plus Auto Centre, Warrington, carried out some recommissioning that included the re-upholster and re-fit of the headlining, work on the exhaust system, and servicing that included an oil and filter change. In May 2018, Bromley Tyres, Warrington, supplied and fitted rear bumper corners, an aerial, an indicator relay and a battery isolator. There are invoices for work by Rybrook Jaguar and Dunham Jaguar since the late 1990s.
Accompanied by the book pack, containing the handbooks, there is also the service book with its 9 stamped entries which include 7 from Jaguar main dealers. The entries are as follows:
Dutton Forshaw Jaguar - April 1991 at 234 miles
Dutton Forshaw Jaguar - July 1991 at 8971 miles
Dutton Forshaw Jaguar - November 1991 at 17,690 miles

Dunham Jaguar - April 2001 at 78,926 miles
This Le Mans example presents many wonderful opportunities for grand-touring in 2026, for a new owner. The XJ-S has seen a growing market interest in recent years and the Le Mans V12 iteration provides even more exclusivity and cache. Offered with the book pack containing the handbooks and service book, along with an older blue V5, the Jaguar also comes with the current V5C Registration Document.
