We are lucky enough to have auctioned many Land Rover Defenders over the years and have often commented that rarely are there any two the same. This rather excellent example proves that point! Bought new in March 1998 from James Duckworth & Son of Market Rasen, and owned by the vendor ever since. Remarkably, this Defender has covered a mere 25,000 miles since then, an average of less than 1,000 miles per year, a fact that is reflected in its virtually as new condition.

Unquestionably an enthusiast, the owner spent a considerable amount of money with the supplying Land Rover dealer to create the bespoke example we see before us. Looking through the comprehensive collection of Duckworth invoices, we can see that the following accessories were fitted shortly after its purchase; front nudge bar with Safari driving lamps, rear step bumper and spare wheel carrier, sump guard, mudflaps, side runners, security system, radio cassette (it was 1998!), a Warn low level winch, military style tool boxes, sunroof, snorkel, tinted exterior sun visor and a set of five 16” Boost alloys shod with B F Goodrich Trac Edge tyres. We suspect that there are further options and accessories fitted that the next owner will discover as they get to know their new Defender.

One thing that is not difficult to find is the rear conversion. At this time, we are unsure as to who actually completed the construction but can wholeheartedly say that they did a superb job - expertly fitted plywood framing and professionally upholstered cushions and mattress go together and create a very comfortable environment. Worthy of closer inspection to see just how well this whole thing has been put together, you should also allow enough time to peruse the hefty and complete history file.

A rare, very low mileage, one owner, immaculate Defender 110. You obviously can’t buy a new one anymore, but we consider this to be possibly the closest you’ll ever get. We doubt you will be disappointed.
