The Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera, introduced in 1984, marked a significant evolution of the classic 911 and became one of the most respected air-cooled models. Replacing the 911 SC, it featured a larger 3.2-litre flat-six engine producing 231bhp combined with improved reliability, performance, and everyday usability. Key updates included Bosch Motronic engine management, stronger gearboxes, and refined suspension and braking. Available in Coupé, Targa, and Cabriolet forms, the 3.2 Carrera successfully bridged the gap between traditional air-cooled character and modern engineering, cementing its reputation as one of the most durable and desirable classic 911s.
We are delighted to offer this 1988 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Sport Coupe in Guards Red with pinstripe cloth interior. First registered in May 1988, the car was supplied by Porsche dealers Parker & Parker of Kendal to a gentleman in Bolton. The car was beautifully optioned. Sport specification brought the deep front lip, iconic whale tail rear wing, Bilstein dampers and sports seats with electric height adjustment. The original owner added to this with the High Fidelity Package (including 8 speaker system with amplifier) and an electric sunroof. We have the original service book which contains 18 stamps from some well known names such as Ian Anthony, Tony Geatorex and Hexagon Classics amongst others. There is also a bundle of invoices giving a bit more detail of the work undertaken over the years. The most recent service was undertaken at 88,265 miles by reputable Porsche specialists Loe Bank Motors in June last year. The vendor has just undertaken an MOT which the Porsche flew through with no advisories.
Resplendent in lustrous Guards Red with black detailing and aggressive wings, this 911 is the epitome of Eighties “more is more” mentality, beloved by City traders and anyone else that wanted the world to know they were doing well. The black-centred, forged Fuchs alloys present really nicely and, as you would hope, they are wrapped in matching, high quality rubber – Pirellis all round, fitted in December 2024. The cabin is fabulous, the seats being finished in the seldom-seen grey pinstripe cloth. They are so clean and free from wear that it’s hard to believe they’ve see almost 40 years of use. The plastics are in great condition and it is all pleasingly unmodified in here. The front boot is clean and the engine bay is well presented without being over-detailed. It’s worth mentioning that if the engine bay and door/boot shuts seem a little less shiny than the rest of the paint, this is only because the vendor has very sensibly treated these areas with Bilt Hamber clear wax oil for extra protection. The less visible areas have also received the Bilt Hamber treatment.
The car comes with V5C, current and old MOTs, full book pack, Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche GB, a bundle of invoices, old tax discs and original PDI sheet.
If you’re looking for a classic 1980s Porsche 911, this car ticks all the boxes – manual, coupe, G50 gearbox, Guards Red, Sport specification, no modifications, good history and superb condition. It’s hard to think of what else you could want?
