The Porsche 997, produced from 2004 to 2012, is the sixth generation of the iconic Porsche 911 and a significant model in the evolution of the brand. It followed the 996 and marked a return to some of the classic styling cues that enthusiasts had missed, such as the round headlights, reminiscent of earlier 911 models. The 997 was offered in a wide range of variants, including the Carrera, Turbo, and GT3, each with distinct performance capabilities. Throughout its production run, the 997 saw two main phases: the original 997.1 and the facelifted 997.2, introduced in 2008. The 997 is celebrated for its balance of traditional Porsche design with modern performance and comfort, making it one of the most beloved and versatile 911s in the model's storied history.
We are delighted to offer this 2006 Porsche Carrera 2S in Atlas Grey with a custom black leather / cloth interior. First registered in March 2006, it has had four previous owners. The service book has 11 entries, the last few alternating between well respected local marque specialists, Unique, for the major services and our vendor undertaking oil changes in between. It’s noted that the last oil service was last year at 96,965 miles and the gearbox oil was changed at 82,227 miles. There is also a bundle of invoices for maintenance and parts. Highlights include £6,000 spent in 2018 with Steve Bull Specialist Cars, which included new clutch / flywheel, a refresh of some suspension parts and six new coil packs, new AC condensers fitted by Unique in 2020 and a further suspension refresh and geometry set up in 2021 undertaken by Centre Gravity.
Outside, the 911 presents beautifully with nice paint, clear headlamp lenses and some nicely judged Porsche decals. It sits on handsome 19” Carrera Classic wheels, all of them free from kerbing and wrapped in high quality, matching Bridgestone tyres. The cabin is very special, our vendor having had the front seats customised with checked cloth centres and the leather steering wheel recovered with a red stitching and a matching red strip at the top. These tasteful modifications really lift what would ordinarily be a rather dark and sombre interior and, combined with the exterior stripes, give a retro nod to the classic air-cooled models of the Seventies and Eighties. The stereo has been upgraded to a modern Pioneer touchscreen with DAB, Bluetooth etc. but the installation has been done properly, with the correct surround allowing it to blend unobtrusively into the dash.
The Porsche comes with V5C, full book pack, bundle of invoices, some old MOTs and two keys.
Many would argue that the 997 Carrera is peak water-cooled 911 and with good reason. It combines classic 911 looks with a more analogue driving experience than the later examples - naturally aspirated, hydraulic steering and minimal technology nannying you. This Carrera 2S is very much the driver’s choice being lighter than the 4WD examples, fitted with a lovely manual gearchange, benefitting from the more powerful 350bhp 3.8 engine and sensibly optioned with the fabulous sounding, switchable sports exhaust - it ticks all the boxes. It’s hard to believe that these modern classics will get any cheaper and now may be the perfect time to swoop.
