'Special Edition' Minis first appeared in the mid-1970s and the one offered here is a super example of the very collectable 1992 'British Open Classic'.
Purchased by its first owner in November 1992 from Albert Farnell Rover in Guisely, this Mini is finished in the requisite British Racing Green metallic paint, gold stripes and decals, and features a desirable electric sunroof, and half leather seating. The 'Open Classic' was the first UK-market model with a folding electric sunroof as standard which really sets it apart from other Special Edition Minis.
Being one of just 1,000 built, this example has been subject to restoration works approximately three years ago. The photographs in the file show some of the work undertaken, and these should be looked at in parallel with the parts invoices, again in the file.
The exterior paintwork is in fine condition, with all the normal Mini ‘grot spots’ appearing sound. The Minilite alloys have been refurbished and finished in grey, as opposed to silver - but other than that the Mini appears to be in standard specification.
Driven to us over 50 miles by the vendor, he reports the Mini drives as it should and provides peppy performance.
The original Rover book pack comes with the Mini and there are a couple of stamps in the service book.
The low mileage for the year appears correct when looking at previous MOTs.
Also in the file is a useful summary of previous owners from new to the present day, which confirms that the Mini only covered some 9,000 miles up to 2008.
Overall, a very tidy and low mileage example ready for its new owner!
