  • Possibly one of the best available currently
  • Great history
  • Lots of money spent to get it to this standard
  • Stunning in every way

We are so pleased to bring to sale this stunning Mercedes 560 SEC, finished in Nautic blue with beige leather. A piece of the 1980s that was the best you could get at the time. This SEC was, according to the paperwork, supplied new to its first owner on 1/9/1989 in Paris and we think driven to the UK and registered here a few days later on 5/9/1989. This was something that used to happen with Mercedes’, where you could collect your car usually from the factory but in this case it was France. A nice thing to do and it would have made for a great road trip, especially in this example.

The history is very good, with a large collection of receipts and invoices along with a host of previous MOTs which sit very well with the fresh one carried out on 28/1/2026, which it passed with no advisories. This comes as no surprise as this Mercedes has come through one of the country’s leading classic car restorers, Bridge Classics. Bridge have supplied us with paperwork which includes a list of work carried out such as; brake discs, pads and calipers; front and rear screens including rubbers; all new chromework, viscous fan coupling, air conditioning compressor, wiper motors, speedometer (documented change shows 111,000 miles, it has covered c.170,000 miles), seat belt butler, heated seats pads and module and driver’s seat motor; wheels refurbished with new Yokohama tyres 18”; new battery, hydraulic suspension pipes, brake pipes, fuel injectors, idle valves, all filters; full service; seats reconnollised; painting of roof and n/s quarter panels; and renewal of interior lamps amongst a host of other bits and pieces. We hope you get the picture of how it has been looked after, and it very much shows.

The Mercedes comes with its original leather wallet and handbooks with a service book containing 28 stamps, along with the aforementioned invoices and receipts and warranty information from Mercedes. The 560 is sat on a lovely set of 18” wheels and still has a Becker Mexico radio, as well as all the standard toys that a car of this quality had from new. In the day, these were probably one of the most expensive cars you could buy, certainly in the Mercedes world, but it was most definitely the best engineered of its time. It is often said that every one of these that Mercedes sold, they lost money because so much went into them. We think that may be correct, that’s why this was the choice of racing drivers, pop stars, captains of industry and people with good taste and lots of money. Hence not a lot of them where made or sold, making this a very rare example. Factor in its history and condition, and you have one of the best classic cars in the world today which will be a pleasure to own and drive.

But don’t take our word for it, take a closer look for yourself and see what you think, you will not be disappointed.
