We are delighted to offer this 1972 Austin Sprite, a particularly interesting and increasingly rare example from the final years of Sprite production. By this stage, following changes within British Leyland, the model was marketed simply as the Austin Sprite, with the Healey name no longer used making these later examples notably scarcer and of growing interest to collectors.

This example has had six former keepers, with the previous owner retaining it for approximately 35 years. The mileage is believed to be genuine and is supported by an extensive run of MOT certificates dating from the early 1980s through to the 1990s. It was subsequently laid up for several years before being acquired by the current owner.

Under current ownership, it has been the subject of a comprehensive ‘nut and bolt’ restoration, with photographic evidence documenting the process throughout. The engine has been fully rebuilt, and it now benefits from a fresh tan interior with beige trim, presenting extremely well.

The Sprite is accompanied by a good selection of supporting documentation, including two Austin Sprite booklets, an original owner’s manual, photographic restoration records and invoices for work throughout the years.

A well restored and historically interesting example of the final Austin Sprite, offering charm, usability and increasing collectability.
