Introduced at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show, the R230 series SL marked a new chapter for Mercedes-Benz, offering a refined blend of performance, comfort and handling that set it apart from its rivals. The SL500 served as the early flagship, powered by a 5-litre V8 and five-speed automatic transmission producing 302bhp and a 0-60mph time of 5.8 seconds.
2004 saw this example ‘OU04 ZKR’ leave the production line to be first registered on 5th March 2004. Finished in iconic Silver with typically sumptuous Grey Leather, combining elegance with the smooth performance of its 4,966cc V8 and 7-speed automatic gearbox, it was built to deliver effortless cruising and the full enjoyment of open-top motoring. There are just four former keepers recorded with the DVLA. The specification includes automatic transmission, air conditioning, ABS, cruise control, electric seats and providing comfort and convenience throughout.
It’s pleasing to see that the book pack accompanies the SL, and the service book is present, containing 10 stamped entries, 8 of which are main dealer entries, demonstrating a well-documented maintenance record. The SL received its first recorded service on 25th January 2006 at 5,194 miles, followed by further servicing on 28th March 2007 at 10,839 miles and on 11th March 2009 at 16,633 miles. It was serviced again on 8th March 2011 at 29,345 miles, with subsequent services taking place on 9th March 2013 at 37,601 miles and on 10th May 2015 at 44,988 miles. The next service occurred on 25th April 2017 when the mileage had risen to 52,446 miles, followed by another on 28th May 2018 at 54,090 miles. The SL was then serviced on 23rd March 2021 at 63,664 miles, with the most recent service completed on 3rd July 2024 at 75,279 miles. It also received new brake pads in 2021, with the last MOT carrying an advisory relating to play in the nearside steering-rack inner joint. Described by the vendor as “good” in all respects, it is offered with a selection of accompanying paperwork, including invoices for previous work, old MOT certificates, and the V5C Registration Document.
