We are very pleased to bring to market this Porsche 911, which is a little different in many ways and worthy of a closer inspection to understand what has been done to it. It is finished in possibly the best colour, Guards Red, and was subject to a colour change in 1988. Originally brown - a thing back in the 1970s - it looks all the better for being recoloured red. A red 911 is on most people’s bucket list and is possibly the colour most people would gravitate to.
Originally registered on a ‘P’ registration on 1/10/1975, and believed to be an original RHD UK example, the Porsche was in the previous ownership for the last 15 years, during which time much time and money were spent restoring it to the condition you see today. Recent bills include £3,000 on engine work (June 2023), plus a gearbox rebuild at £3,461.95 (February 2023), and there are additional receipts in the file for over £7,000 spent in the last 15 years. Additional invoices are on file that date back to the early noughties and nineties. We understand that it has also been polybushed, which is a sensible and worthwhile upgrade.
The exterior presents very nicely and it certainly looks the part in Guards Red with the black accents. The Porsche has obviously been upgraded to look more like an 80s 911, and as such it certainly cuts quite a dash! The requisite whale tail is fitted, plus later alloys with black centres and black badging, giving it that 1980s look that everyone craves for. The interior has upgraded black leather seats piped in red. An aftermarket CD player is fitted.
Overall, this is a usable example which has benefitted from much expenditure over the last few years. Whilst some of the originality has been lost, it has been transformed into a 911 with far more of a legendary look, and as such presents a great opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of 911 motoring at a sensible price.
PLEASE NOTE: The engine is puffing out a bit of blue smoke on startup, which will require investigating.
