Estimated Price: £25,000 - £30,000
- Developed jointly by Ford of Britain and Ford of Germany, the Mk2 RS2000 was a more refined evolution of the Escort platform, powered by a 2-litre SOHC Pinto inline-four driving the rear wheels through a longitudinal layout
- The front suspension used independent MacPherson struts with an anti-roll bar and, at the rear, traditional leaf springs with telescopic dampers were utilised. Front-mounted discs and rear drums were used and 4-spoke alloy wheels came as standard
- Instantly recognisable by its distinctive polyurethane ‘droop-snoot’ nose with quad headlamps, the RS2000 delivered strong performance for its era, capable of 0–60mph in approximately 8.9 seconds and a top speed of around 110mph
- First registered in 1980 and finished in classic Diamond White with a black interior featuring factory Recaro sports seats, this example displayed just under 47,000 miles at the time of cataloguing
- Accompanied by a substantial service history file containing numerous receipts and appearing to present as a solid, straightforward example
- Now requiring recommissioning prior to regular use but representing a wonderful opportunity to acquire an increasingly collectable Performance Ford, guided at £25,000–£30,000 and worthy of close inspection
