1977 MG B GT (V8)
£8,000.00 | €9,194.34 | $10,928.40

The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupe with 2+2 seating was added in 1965, with production continuing until October 1980. The MGB GT sported a ground-breaking design by Pininfarina with the launch of its sporty 'hatchback' style. By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the GT offered the utility of a hatchback whilst retaining the style and shape of a coupe. Acceleration of the GT was slightly slower than that of the Roadster due to its increased weight although top speed was improved by 5mph to 105mph due to better aerodynamics.

This MGB GT has been rebuilt from the ground up by the previous vendor, over a five-year period, resulting in an MGB with exceptional performance. The specification is enormous and includes a new 4.0 litre V8 engine supplied by Turner Engineering including heavy duty iron flanged liners, a Real Steel high performance camshaft, Merlin big valve cylinder heads, John Earles crossover inlet manifold and carbon fibre air boxes. All of this is mounted to an LT five-speed gearbox, with suspension and braking system suitably enhanced to ensure this unique MGB has the necessary handling and stopping power. Fuel injection has also been added, the mapping of which can be adjusted by the onboard tablet computer. Speedhut digital/analogue instrumentation has been fitted including a GPS speedometer and lap timing. Finished in the Ferrari colour of Rosso Corsa with a black leather interior, this MGB GT is supplied with a V5C registration document and a comprehensive history folder confirming the expenditure to be far in excess of the estimate! Having been purchased just prior to Covid, it was used sparingly at that time and has scarcely been used since, therefore some recommissioning would be advised. Consigned by James Good
