We are very pleased to offer this stunning BMW Z3 1.9 finished in Atlanta blue with black leather. If you know your BMW or James Bond history, you will know that BMW launched the Z3 in conjunction with the Bond film ‘Goldeneye’. The success of the film took the Z3 into hyper space for demand, so many so these were selling for thousands of pounds over list price on the launch. Due to limited numbers in the beginning, this carried on for a while after and made the Z3 one of the most desirable cars around. Being registered by L.J. Irvine & Sons on 3/1/1998 makes this a very early example and was possibly subject to the initial frenzy at the time. It was then sold to a chap in Cheshire by Halliwell Jones who kept it for many years and had it serviced by them whilst in his ownership.
The Z3 comes to us from a very high brow collection, and is only coming to market due to relocation. Upon viewing, you will understand why it was in a special collection. The specification on the Z3 was always meant to be sparce and a little retro, which was BMW’s idea with the car. This one does benefit from the Z Star alloy wheels, nicely fitted with a new set of matching Dunlop tyres, a CD boot changer, and chrome line interior, which matches well with the stunning black leather and, of course, that special colour of Atlanta blue. It would appear to be factory standard and unmolested, which is a very good thing and further enhances its desirability to both collectors and purists.
The service history is lovely and backs up the recorded mileage of 56,000 miles displayed. This is in the form of a service book containing 14 stamps, which are all with Halliwell Jones in Chester, other than the PDi and first service that were carried out by L.J. Irvine. It also has a large collection of previous MOTs, which sit very nicely with the fresh one recently carried out. It also comes with a full book pack, complete with all its manuals and handbooks, some lovely correspondence from BMW and details showing that the previous owner renewed his warranty year on year. This is great history to have and demonstrates how well it has been cared for, although you only have to see it to know that.
If you want to own a little bit of BMW and Bond history, or simply want one of the prettiest Z3s available at the moment, then this is the one for you. Don’t take our word for it, take a closer look and see what you think. This would be a good purchase and, if kept in this condition, can surely only increase in value, as well as giving you a whole lot of fun and pride of ownership.
