  • A good-looking example that needs a little bit of paint to finish
  • Large amount of paperwork
  • Some tasteful extras
  • Becoming quite rare now

Here we have a 1966 MG Midget finished in red with a lovely black interior with red piping and a black hood. The MG was first registered on 13/7/1966 and, according to the HPi, it was originally white but had a colour change in 1998. It has only had 7 previous owners, which is quite low for a 60 year old. The paintwork would benefit from a little attention but everything else looks rather good. It has a few period tasteful extras such as a Minilite-style set of alloys, and a wooden steering wheel which both suit it very well and look like they belong.

The history is very good, with a large selection of invoices, lots of details from the MG Owner’s Club, many old MOTs, owner’s handbooks and, best of all, a very nice little black note book showing all the maintenance and service details - something you don’t often see, but wonderful when you do. The MG also comes with a large collection of photos detailing its rebuild some years ago and showing it finished in all its glory, and very good it looked too. All this shows that it has been cared for and been owned by an enthusiast.

The Midget is rarer than its bigger cousin, the MGB, and therefore more sought after. They make for a great and inexpensive way into classic car ownership, or just something to have stored away in the garage for those fun lazy sunny days. Either way can’t be wrong.
