The XJS was relaunched in this, its final form in May 1991 under Ford Motor Company's new ownership. Ford dropped the model name's hyphen, marketing it as the XJS. By removing the frames, the rear side windows appeared enlarged despite having identical glass apertures as the earlier examples, the windscreen was flush fitting, while the buttresses remained - somewhat minimised by the new side window trim. The rear fascia and trunk lid were redesigned, with new black tinted rear lights being fitted. The XJS received a new 4.0-litre version of the AJ6 straight-six engine. In 1992 it received more aerodynamic front and rear bumpers that were painted in body colour. The main interior change was to the instrument pack, replaced by a more conventional style binnacle. Outboard rear brakes replaced the more complicated inboard brakes of previous models from May 1993.

Undoubtedly one of the nicest XJS’ we’ve seen. This particular example has been with its current owner for 25 years and 9 months! In the last twenty years it has travelled just 2,000 miles and has obviously been spared salty winter roads and rain as the bodywork presents superbly.

The XJS comes with a Heritage Certificate confirming its original registration as part of Jaguar’s exclusive Executive Fleet. The Service History is all Jaguar upto July 2004 at 87,503 miles.

The body panels all appear laser straight and the paintwork has a deep shine and lustre. The oatmeal leather interior also presents very well with little signs of wear and even the driver’s side bolster belies its mileage with little wear evident at all. The headlining looks almost new. All-in-all, a good clean and leather treatment should have it looking amazing.

If an XJS is on your radar, this is most definitely worth your attention.
