Aston Martin's DB6 was launched at the London Motor Show in 1965 following the highly successful DB5, immortalised by the 1964 James Bond film 'Goldfinger'. The front of the DB6 was visually similar to the DB5 but closer inspection reveals quite a different car. The wheelbase was lengthened, allowing additional passenger space in the rear, along with a raised roofline. The profile of the rear quarterlights echoed those of the DB4 GT Zagato, a styling theme that continued through the DBS and V8 models until 1990. Both front and rear bumpers were split into two pieces, and the rear of the car was re-styled with a Kamm tail which helped reduce aerodynamic drag and gave the car more stability at speed. The Tadek Marek-designed engine was retained from the DB5, The engine, a 3,995cc twin overhead cam, straight six with triple SU carburettors producing a claimed 282bhp. 'If you want a truly British driver's car, the ultimate development of a continuous line of thoroughbreds from the Vintage era to the present day, there is nothing in quite the same field as the Aston.' - Motor Magazine on the Aston Martin DB6, 26th November 1966.

Finished in the delightful colour combination of Old English Pewter and cream Connolly leather interior with Brewster Green Wilton carpets, this handsome DB6 Volante is so beautiful that King Charles himself owns one - and even allowed his son, William, to use it on his wedding day! Supplied originally by H. R. Owen on 12th September 1968, importantly with special order triple SU carburettors, three-ear wheel spinners and power steering. This DB6 has been maintained throughout its life regardless of cost and is supplied with a fantastic service history and a plethora of detailed invoices spanning a 40-year period. A matching numbers example, this Aston Martin DB6 Volante underwent a total restoration over an eight-year period - itemised details of the work can be seen in the comprehensive history folder. Recent work to ensure the car's condition is maintained include re-chroming of the front bumpers and servicing of the hood's mechanism as well as more general maintenance. Supplied along with the car is a V5 document, together with an owners' handbook as well as two binders of receipts and information. Aesthetically this DB6 Volante is spectacular, and the combination of the Royal family connection to the marque and the fabulous, unmarked condition make it the connoisseur's choice for a car that oozes unrivalled class and sophistication.
