A rare and iconic French sports car
The Alpine A310 1600 was introduced as the successor to the legendary A110, offering a more modern design while retaining Alpine's original spirit: a lightweight, rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports car.
Produced from 1971 to 1976 in just 2,340 units, the A310 1600 VF is especially coveted for its purist approach and the naturally aspirated 1605cc engine derived from the Renault R16 TS.
This car originally came with a Bosch fuel injection system, which has been replaced with twin carburetors during the restoration to improve performance and simplify maintenance. The original injection system is included with the sale.
Provenance and documented restoration
First registered in Mantua, Italy, in 1975, the car was re-registered in Siena in 1979, where it still retains its original black license plate and registration booklet.
In 2009, the current owner - a passionate collector of 1970s European sports cars - discovered the car in neglected condition but with strong originality. He commissioned a full, nut-and-bolt restoration, staying true to factory specifications:
Repainted in the original Champagne Metallic
Blue fabric interior reupholstered to exact period-correct standards
Engine, suspension, brakes, transmission, and chassis all overhauled
Upon completion in 2011, the car received the prestigious ASI “Targa Oro” certification, reserved for the most historically accurate vehicles in Italy.
Since then, it has covered just 100 km, moved exclusively by trailer to exhibitions. It has never been driven in rain or poor weather and remains in concours-level condition.
