Maserati Khamsin 1976, 4.9 liter

AM120US1158

435 Khamsins were built between 1974 and 1982.

This lovely example was ordered by the US agent and was produced in March 1976 . Somehow the order was cancelled and the car was re-routed for the German market. Duly delivered as an European specification car to German agent ‘Auto Koenig’ in Munich in April 1976.

All was changed to European specification apart from the radiator and some warning lights that remain.

The „US“ in the chassis number was still retained.

‘Auto Koenig’ delivered all their Khamsins without the rear glass where the tail lights are situated and this car is as it was delivered with the window replaced by a body-color panel.

The car was kept by its first owner from 1976 until August 1982 when it was bought by a gentleman, second owner, in the Bielefeld area in Germany.

He looked after it very well and had it repaired and serviced by the same workshop (Autohaus Bönning in Bad Essen, Germany) for 30 years leaving nothing not done to it. Since 2015 in current and third ownership, also in Germany and is now part of a dedicated Maserati/car collection.

Sparingly used, the car has only done 54….km from new until today and is original in all respects, paintwork and interior are original and in very good condition. Mechanically the car is in good working order and all original.

The car just had recent full service and maintenance and is ready to hit the road with her new owner.

The engine’s internal number ‘1119’ has been checked with the factory and has been confirmed as matching to its original number so the car is “matching numbers” and was also sold new as a manual car.

Originally manufactured and painted in Rosso Fuocco with black leather interior.

There cannot be many cars on the market that are fully original and in such lovely condition as this car. The low mileage clearly explains the nice original condition and the mileage can of course be verified through bills from Auto Bönning.

The original specification is a standard 4.9 liter Maserati V8 engine (which delivers 320 hp) with dry sump, ZF 5-speed manual gearbox, Citroen LHM high pressure brakes and steering. Colored glazing, leather interior, Becker Mexico RC radio, electric windows, heated rear window, power steering, spare wheel, special equipment: Bilstein shock absorbers

This is now the right opportunity to own a beautifully preserved, collector-grade example of Maserati’s iconic GT.
