We are very pleased to bring to market this very pretty Mercedes-Benz 230 SL ‘Pagoda’ automatic, finished in white with a blue hard top, and blue seats and carpets - a lovely traditional combination. The Benz started life on 12th April 1965 from the Mercedes dealer in Point Piper, New South Wales, Australia and was sold to a Mrs Dare. This is confirmed by its original book pack, which includes manuals and relevant paperwork along with the original folder, how good is that? The service book is in great condition and has lots of details including no less than 33 stamps (amazing). This is backed up with some later invoices and receipts showing work carried out to keep it as you see it today. The SL also comes with its spare key and a V5 showing it was registered in the UK on 1/7/2025 to the same owner it had in Australia. The vendor lived in Australia for many years and had enjoyed the Pagoda there, but has since returned to the UK and brought it back with him. He is now going to live in France where he would prefer to use a left hand drive car. Having owned the Pagoda for many years and brought it back from Australia, it is clear this is a very reluctant sale.
The paperwork carries on with the original build records from new, Australian registration details, invoices from Australia, a dating letter from Mercedes, and all the import details into the UK. A great selection of paperwork confirming the authenticity and identity. The vendor tells us that the Mercedes had an engine rebuild in 2017, as well as new seats, new exhaust and firewall, a general tidy up, and a new spare tyre. It also comes with a wind deflector, a rare thing to have on one of these, and has only covered c.100 miles whilst in the UK. The SL appears to be factory specification, and is very clean and detailed with good panel fitting. As well as the new parts fitted, it has some spare chrome parts in the boot, what appears to be the original radio of the time, and a heater system fitted that may also have air conditioning.
