- Developed in the early 1980s by Akira Araki for the US market, the original V-Max was inspired by American drag racing on bridges and was designed for maximum straight-line power rather than cornering
- The defining feature of the Full Power models was the V-Boost system which opened butterfly valves in the intake manifold in excess of 5,750rpm, allowing each cylinder to be fed by two carburettors instead of one, resulting in a dramatic power increase to 145bhp at 9,000rpm and 80–84lb/ft of torque at 6,000–7,500rpm
- This example has been well cared for in long-term ownership for 20 years and is running and riding well
- It benefits from a recent new clutch, clutch slave cylinder and water pump and is fitted with Oxford heated grips. Our vendor has home-serviced the bike every 4,000 miles or every year as appropriate
- In 2009, whilst owned by our vendor, it was subject to a 'CAT C' insurance write-off as it was deemed by the insurance company uneconomical to repair. He retained the bike and had it professionally repaired, with the mileage at that point 9,500 according to its MOT history. It has since been used extensively covering over 29,000 miles in the last 15 years, including tours abroad as far as Greece
- Supplied with its V5C, old invoices, service manual, two keys, the toolkit and the current MOT is valid until August 2026
