  • Douglas Motorcycles were based in Bristol and produced bikes between 1907 and 1957
  • Famous for their opposed-twin engine designs during their early days of production
  • They supplied over 70,000 bikes and, along with Triumph, contributed the most to the war effort between 1914 and 1918
  • After WWII, Douglas was in financial difficulty and reduced its output to the 350cc flat-twin engine models with the engine mounted across the frame
  • One of only circa 50 bikes produced in period by Douglas
  • Shaft-drive with hand-change 4-speed gearbox and a 500cc engine made them popular as sidecar machines
  • This example comes mostly complete, although missing its magneto and appears unrestored
  • Same owner since 1976 with purchase receipt included along with an old MOT from 1971
  • Garage stored since late 1970s so will need recommissioning or restoring before use
