A charming and increasingly rare example of the Ford Consul Capri, this elegant two-door coupé - derived from the Consul Classic - was produced for a brief yet memorable period between 1961 and 1964, capturing the spirit of early 1960s British motoring with its distinctive styling and poised road presence.
Originally equipped with an over-square 1498cc engine, this particular example has, in more recent years, benefited from a thoughtful and sympathetic upgrade. At its heart now resides Ford’s well-regarded 2.1-litre Pinto engine, paired with an automatic gearbox, offering a more relaxed and usable driving experience well-suited to modern roads.
Finished in a deep gloss black, the coachwork presents attractively and carries a fine visual impact. While generally of good order, there are a handful of minor imperfections - light scratches and small areas of touch-in - such as one might expect, and which could be further improved by an attentive new custodian wishing to elevate the finish to an even higher standard.
The interior is equally eye-catching, trimmed in a bold red diamond-quilted design, complemented by matching door cards and carpets. The overall impression is one of bespoke character and period-inspired flair. As with the exterior, there are a few minor areas where gentle refinement would reward, though nothing that detracts from immediate enjoyment. Indeed, the Consul may be used and appreciated as it stands, offering a stylish and distinctive companion for the forthcoming summer season.
