Introduced in 1999, the Kawasaki W650 cleverly captured the spirit of 1960s and ’70s British motorcycling—without the reliability concerns that often came with it. With its timeless design, bevel-drive engine, and authentic period details, it remains a favourite among enthusiasts and custom builders alike.

Producing approximately 49hp, the W650 offers relaxed, enjoyable performance rather than outright speed. Its popularity as a Café Racer base is well deserved, with a wealth of period-style parts available to create a true “Ton-Up” inspired machine down the Ace Café for very little money.

This example was pre-registered for just three weeks in 2005 (the first owner being the supplying dealer), effectively making it a one-owner bike from new. It has covered only 7,033 miles and remains in largely original specification, including flat handlebars and traditional peashooter exhausts.

The bike presents very well, with excellent paintwork as per factory finish. There is some light, age-related corrosion on polished components, as expected, but importantly there is no damage.

The service book shows stamps from Kawasaki up to April 2009. After a period of minimal use and storage, the bike was professionally recommissioned last year by Bike Shed Waterlooville at a cost of £905.97. Work carried out included a full service, new carburettor kits, fuel tank clean, new battery, new fuel tap, and a fresh MOT.
