We are delighted to offer this particularly charming 1952 Jowett Jupiter, a highly characterful British sports car with wonderfully personal provenance and long-term family ownership.

The Jowett is offered showing 90,913 miles and is finished in British Racing Green with a warm tan interior and matching weather equipment, presenting as an honest and appealing example. The vendor advises that while the V5 records one former keeper, the accompanying original buff logbook shows it to have had three former keepers, which is believed to be the more accurate record.

What makes this Jupiter especially appealing is its remarkable family history. It has remained in the same family ownership since 1963, when it was purchased by the vendor’s father, who retained and enjoyed it for many years. The Jowett became a familiar part of family life and was passed on to his son in 2014. Now offered only due to lack of use, it is described as a very reluctant sale, having been part of the family story for decades.

It is understood to have been restored in the early 2000s and today presents in nice overall condition. The chrome could be improved in places if desired, but it remains a very honest and usable example with real character.

Mechanically, it has benefitted from thoughtful upgrades to improve usability, including a full stainless steel exhaust system (with lifetime warranty) and an upgraded cooling system, now featuring an electric water pump, electric cooling fan and a re-cored / reconditioned radiator, enhancing reliability for modern driving conditions.

The history file is particularly appealing and includes the original Jowett handbook and maintenance manual, along with an additional workshop manual, parts catalogues and technical data. Also included is a selection of Whitworth spanners and spare parts, such as plugs, points and a fan belt, adding to the practicality and appeal for classic ownership.

Further supported by a collection of invoices, restoration photographs and documentation, this Jupiter offers a well-rounded package for its next custodian.

The Jowett Jupiter remains one of the more distinctive post-war British sports cars, admired for its lightweight construction, advanced engineering and period competition pedigree. With its long-term family ownership, useful upgrades and excellent accompanying history and spares, this example offers far more than simple classic car ownership.

A genuine and well-loved Jupiter, full of character, history and charm, ready to be enjoyed.
