The Aston Martin DB7 Vantage, unveiled at the close of the twentieth century in 1999, represents a compelling evolution of the marque’s celebrated grand touring lineage. At its heart lies a formidable 6.0-litre V12 engine, meticulously assembled by Cosworth, delivering an impressive 420 horsepower with effortless composure. Penned by the renowned Ian Callum, the Vantage benefitted from a refined aesthetic, a notably stiffer chassis, and the option of either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission, ensuring an experience tailored to both the purist and the grand tourer alike.
Visually distinguished from its straight-six predecessor, the Vantage commands attention through its enlarged front grille, redesigned fog lamps, and elegant 18-inch alloy wheels. The cabin, a hallmark of Aston Martin craftsmanship, is sumptuously appointed with hand-trimmed leather, complemented by a choice of wood or carbon fibre inlays. Beneath its poised exterior, uprated suspension and enhanced braking systems - featuring larger front discs - provide the necessary assurance to harness its considerable performance.
Widely regarded as a pivotal step forward in refinement and engineering for the brand, the DB7 Vantage strikes a harmonious balance between sporting intent and luxurious comfort. The example presented here has benefitted from an exceptional service history, with no fewer than seventeen recorded services, the majority undertaken by Aston Martin main agents and thereafter by highly regarded marque specialists. It further benefits from the recent addition of four Bridgestone tyres, ensuring confident road manners.
Finished in the ever-desirable Antrim Blue, this example is paired with a striking two-tone interior of tan and blue, elegantly offset by a maple wood dashboard and corresponding trim. While it presents well overall, the interior would benefit from a degree of sympathetic attention - light cleaning is advised, and the gear selector gaiter, having become loose, would be best replaced. Light wear to the seat bolster and armrest is evident, though entirely consistent with an example of this age and mileage, and does little to detract from what remains a most engaging and characterful example of this modern classic.
