Since 1921, the Bentley name has been synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury. The 'Continental' designation recalls the Bentley Continental of the post-war period, while the 'R' resonates to the R-Type Bentleys from the 1950s as well as the Turbo R of the 1980s. Bentley's 1980s resurgence relied exclusively on models whose basic architecture was shared with other Rolls-Royce products, however, the Bentley Continental R was unique to the Bentley marque. Despite the need to incorporate non-traditional features such as doors recessed into the roof, the result looked every bit a Bentley, albeit one re-stated for the 1990s. Needless to say, the performance was outstanding; the combination of the Turbo R engine in the new wind-cheating shape cutting the 0-60mph time to under six seconds and boosting top speed to in excess of 150mph.

Registered on 4th September 1997, this Georgian Silver example was first delivered to Guernsey. The Magnolia trim, paired with burr walnut veneer and deep carpeting throughout, complement the silver paintwork perfectly. The cabin presents in good overall condition, with only minor wear evident to certain leather surfaces. Reported by the vendor to run and drive well, the engine delivers its power in a smooth and controlled manner. The accompanying history file includes a V5C registration document and substantial number of invoices documenting maintenance and servicing. Recent expenditure totals £4,346.22 under the current vendor's ownership since early 2025, with work carried out by Harwoods of Sussex. Earlier maintenance is also recorded, including invoices from Phantom Motor Cars Ltd, which carried out work amounting to £6,400 in 2023. Additional servicing and maintenance have been undertaken by The Garage from 2019 onwards, covering a series of smaller items. Hanwells of London is recorded as having completed work valued at £4,240 in October 2018. Overall, the documentation reflects consistent and ongoing maintenance over a number of years. These imposing grand tourers look as spectacular now as the day they were revealed to the public, with this example ready to be enjoyed by its new owner. Consigned by Will Penrose
