The Jalpa is a development of the Silhouette, further refined technically under the supervision of Giulio Alfieri, the man who had previously made his mark at Maserati. By increasing the stroke of the V8 engine to 3.5 liters, a power unit producing around 255 horsepower was created. With a top speed of approximately 155 mph (249 km/h) and a weight lower than that of the V12 models, the Jalpa offered a remarkably accessible and agile driving experience. Between 1982 and 1988, only 410 examples were built, making it a rare and highly desirable model among collectors today.
This particular example from 1987 is finished in the iconic Rosso Siviglia. The paint has great depth, rich color, and is presented in fantastic condition, beautifully highlighting the angular, unmistakably 1980s design. The interior has been preserved with great care, and the ergonomics—significantly improved in the Jalpa compared to its predecessors—are truly impressive.
What really sets this Jalpa apart is its technical condition. No expense was spared: the engine was fully overhauled and rebuilt by specialists a few years ago. And it shows. The engine runs exceptionally well, and driving this Lamborghini is a genuine pleasure. The clutch is not overly heavy, gear changes are surprisingly smooth, and the seating position is unmistakably Lamborghini.
In addition, this Lamborghini has been personally signed by none other than Valentino Balboni, the legendary factory test driver. This Jalpa is offered with its complete set of booklets and the original factory brochure. The overall condition is very well kept and clearly cherished. A Jalpa in this condition, with this documented history and Balboni's “seal of approval,” represents an investment in pure Italian driving enjoyment.
