The Jaguar XJS Convertible, introduced in 1988, was far more than simply a coupe with its roof removed. While the earlier 'T'-top cabriolet had marked Jaguar's return to open-top motoring following the end of E-Type production in 1975, this model represented the marque's first true full convertible. To ensure structural integrity and minimise scuttle shake, a strengthened subframe was incorporated. Retaining the spacious cockpit of the coupe, the convertible featured the full complement of Jaguar's expected refinements, resulting in a highly accomplished open grand tourer. Powered by the renowned 5.3-litre V12 engine—producing around 295bhp in its later fuel-injected form—and paired with automatic transmission, the XJS delivered effortless performance with a top speed of approximately 150mph. Today, it is increasingly recognised as a modern classic, with well-maintained examples highly prized by marque enthusiasts.

This particular example was first registered on 19th January 1993 in Hong Kong and was acquired there by the current vendor in 2016. Subsequently, the car was entrusted to KWE Ltd for an extensive programme of refurbishment and enhancement. Work carried out included a repaint in Regency Red, the installation of KWE Stage 1 suspension, and comprehensive renewal or upgrading of the brakes and steering systems. The V12 engine received an intensive service, while both the automatic transmission and differential were rebuilt. Electrical systems were largely renewed, alongside the fuel system and air conditioning. The hood, carpets, and leather upholstery were replaced or refurbished, and the wood trim was restored. A stainless-steel exhaust system was also fitted. In excess of £83,000 has been invested by the vendor to ensure the car presents exceptionally well and performs with mechanical reliability.
