1973 Triumph TR6
Nice driver-restoration TR6, full tonneau cover, many spare parts, drives very nice.

When you think of classic roadsters the Triumph TR6 is one of the most recognizable one from a bygone era. At one time you would see a Triumph or MG roadster on every street corner of most major cities around the USA being used as daily drivers, these cars appealed to young buyers looking for affordable, stylish automobiles. The “British Invasion” of sports cars began in the 1950s and lasted until the late 70s with MG, Triumph, and Austin Healey. The TR6 was one of Triumphs most successful models with over 83,000 of them being sold Stateside.

Launched in 1968 and built until 1976, the TR6 was designed by German coachbuilder Karmann and was known for its muscular looks, distinct Kammtail rear end, and glorious sounding 2.5L inline 6-cylinder motor. Built as a traditional body-on-frame design, the TR6 also had 4-wheel independent suspension with disk brakes up front, and a 4-speed manual gearbox, and rack and pinion steering.

This 1973 TR6 was built in March of 73’ and is a USA spec model. The car is finished in its original color combo of Pimento Red over Black vinyl interior. The car comes to us from a collector in Eastern WA, whom purchased the car in 2021 out of AZ where it was owned by another enthusiast whom acquired the car back from 2016 out of Texas, both previous owners did extensive restoration and refurbishments.

Recent service work from 2021 to current include the following: New fuel tank, brakes both front and rear renewed, suspension bushings, steering system and trunnions refreshed, alignment performed, new clutch assembly, electronic ignition added, electric fuel pump, door seals replaced, and the engine had a tune-up in February of 2026. Overall the car shows as a very nice condition 3 show-driver with nice paint and interior. Included with the car are 2 sets of floor mats-carpet and rubber, full tonneau cover, soft top boot, many spare parts, extensive literature and service receipts going back to 1998, original steering wheel (a very nice burl wood/aluminum one is currently fitted), and the original chrome front license plate bracket.

The TR6 makes for a great first classic car and parts availability is plentiful with many vendors located here in the USA. These cars are relatively easy to maintain and service, they are very hands on and can be rewarding for the home mechanic or father/son team to tackle on weekends as you teach the younger generations how to properly care for a classic automobile. There are many Triumph clubs and online owner forums for support as well all over the country and abroad. Put the top down, start the snarly 6-cylinder and transport yourself back to a simpler time of pleasure motoring, when how you get there matters more than when you arrive!
