2008 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé
“ Very well maintained, with significant recent expenditure. ”
Finished in Woodland Green Metallic with a matching dark green hide interior, this Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé comes to market with a service history that includes a new engine in March 2025.
Background
As the first Rolls from BMW, the world was watching very closely when the Rolls-Royce Phantom VII emerged blinking into the light in 2003.
We needn’t have worried because the Phantom effectively rescued the marque – and gave Maybach, its Teutonic rival, a figurative slap across the cheek with a pair of bespoke, English duelling gloves.
The body is mostly aluminium, and the extrusions used to construct the aluminium spaceframe were produced by hydroelectric sorcery in Norway, lovingly beaten into shape somewhere in Denmark, hand-welded in Germany and turned into a car at Goodwood.
It is 1.63m high, 1.99m wide, and 5.83m long and weighs 2,485kg despite aluminium construction – and yet its 6.75 litre V12 engine can still force it past 62mph in under six seconds.
But you paid for that performance – and paid handsomely: Priced at over £250,000 when new – and that’s for the ‘basic’ Phantom with no extras, a specification that probably doesn’t actually exists – this is a car that wears consumption more conspicuously than most.

Which cost more than £42,000 by the time it was fitted.
There’s more good news with the fact the seller splashed out more than £2,000 in May 2024 on a few bits and bobs including a new umbrella (£480.30), four valve caps (£98.83), an ashtray (£686.74), and a trickle charger (£611.64) – and no, those are not typos.
And these don’t even scratch the surface; we’re used to seeing big bills, but the scale of this recent investment left even us feeling dry mouthed.
He’s had a great time with it though, attending a couple of Rolls-Royce Enthusiast Club events and taking his granddaughter to her prom night.
But all good things must come to an end, and he’s decided that now is the time to sell so he can fulfil another of his automotive dreams.
