- The 1938 Rudge Special — often called the Rudge Sports Special and associated with the Rudge Ulster/Super Sport lineage — was one of the last high-performance motorcycles built by Rudge-Whitworth before the company stopped motorcycle production in the early 1940s. These machines are remembered for advanced engineering, racing pedigree, and exceptional handling for their era
- Rudge-Whitworth was based in Coventry and became famous in the 1920s and 1930s for producing technically sophisticated motorcycles that regularly competed in events like the Isle of Man TT, with many of the most famous racers of the day riding for them, including Murray Walker, Stanley Woods, Wal Handley and Freddie Dixon
- This attractive example is an older restoration which still presents very well indeed and has been in our vendor's possession for the last 14 years
- First registered on the 01/04/1938, it's a correct numbers bike and is supplied with its RF60 buff logbook, old MOTs, technical documents relevant to the bike, owners manuals and some original Rudge books
- The current V5C correctly classes it as 'Historic' and the original registration appears to be transferable
- On road test, it started second or third kick and quickly settled down to an even idle
- Running and riding, this is a great opportunity to purchase a very smart pre-war Rudge Sports Special
