2018 Jaguar F Type
“ A quite stunning car, with full Jaguar maintenance history, and a fresh service & MoT ”
One of Jaguars finest sports cars, from a company who has made some of the finest sporting cars of all time!
Background
Like all the greats, the Jaguar F-Type started its life as a concept car, specifically the C-X16 that was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011.
The production version arrived a year later and, unusually, it looked remarkably similar to the car that had wowed press and public alike just 12 months earlier.
The first bodystyle was the achingly gorgeous convertible and engines at launch were a brace of supercharged V6 petrols that offered a choice of two power outputs: the base model with 335bhp and a 0-60mph time of just 5.3 seconds (with the automatic gearbox), or a more powerful 375bhp version that slashed that to a withering 4.9 seconds.
Not that Jaguar was finished because the Coupé, which arrived in 2013, ushered in even greater performance with the option of the F-Type R which took barely four seconds to reach 60mph on its way to a top speed of 186mph.
Later models brought with them all-wheel-drive and an SVR version, with the latter capable of touching 200mph after streaking past 60mph in 3.5 seconds, while the 2017MY face-lift introduced the lightweight and economical four-cylinder engine you see here.
Overview
‘YC68 XYP’, a 2018 Jaguar F-Type P300, shows just one former registered keeper on the V5 Registration Certificate.
Finished in Ultra Blue with a white leather interior and the R-Dynamic pack, the two-litre AJ20 P4H inline-four engine, which relieves the front tyres of a noticeable 52kgs in weight, can only be distinguished from the outside by a different design of 18-inch alloy wheel and a single exhaust tailpipe; you certainly won’t notice any deficiency on the road as the new engine still develops 295bhp and 295lb.ft of torque, enough to spirit the F-Type to a top speed of 155mph after streaking past 62mph in 5.7 seconds.
Pistonheads wrote of it: “Where in the V6 and V8 cars the quick steering … can occasionally catch the car out, here the relationship between front and rear feels more harmonious. The turn-in is still sharp, but now the car can keep up. It's agile, accurate and eager to a level unfamiliar from the Jaguar sports car, which is a pleasant surprise.”
It still makes an epic noise too, and Jaguar claims it is capable of returning around 40mpg.
This example sits on the optional 19-inch alloy wheels rather than the standard 18s, and benefits from a stunning and almost unmarked white leather interior: Throw in a full service history, and you’ve got what might just be the perfect spec for a daily driver sportscar that still capable of tingling the hairs on the back of your neck as you set a PB around the Nürburgring.
