Chassis No. AR380506
Engine No. AR0012100435
Introduced at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show, the Giulia Sprint Speciale, a marvel penned by Franco Scaglione for Bertone, stood out not only for its aesthetics but also for its agility in Italian hill climbs and at the Targa Florio, while proving its endurance racing chops, as evidenced by its 27th overall finish at the 1969 24 Hours of Daytona.
Delivered new in Paris, France, in October 1963 and finished in Bianco over a blue interior, this example, chassis number 380506, remained in “l'Hexagone” until 2018. Likely changing hands within the City of Light during its first ten years, the Giulia Sprint Speciale was registered in Paris in 1975 by the man who remained its owner for 35 years.
Stored for many years, it was registered in 2009 by its next owner as “not roadworthy.” Around 2012, it was purchased as a restoration project by an automotive professional, who carried out a full, bare-metal restoration, documented by a photographic file available for review. After several years of meticulous work, it obtained a valid French roadworthiness inspection.
The car was then sold in June 2018 to a Dutch gentleman. In the Netherlands, it received additional care, at least as recorded in the invoices on file: a brake service in 2020, and bodywork with a complete repaint in 2021 by Peter Maassen Classics.
In January 2025, the Sprint Speciale left the port of Rotterdam to join its current owner's collection in United States. At the wheel, he participated in The Cortile della Corsa during the 2025 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, where the car received the People's Choice Award.
This Giulia Sprint Speciale is accompanied by its original French owner's manual, an Alfa Romeo Certificate of Origin, digital copies of earlier French registration titles, a photographic restoration dossier, a 2018 appraisal report, invoices from its Dutch years, and several administrative documents related to sale, transport, or registration, but above all accompanied by its aura as a jewel of Italian design, equally appreciated in hill climbs, endurance racing, and concours d'elegance.
