Produced by the Jowett Car Company of Bradford, England, the Jupiter was introduced in 1950 and remained in production until 1954. By 1952, the model had become one of Britain's most respected small sports cars.At the heart of the Jupiter was a 1.5-litre flat-four engine, mounted at the front of the vehicle. This engine produced around 60 horsepower, which, while modest by modern standards, provided lively performance thanks to the car's lightweight construction. The Jupiter featured an advanced chassis designed by Austrian engineer Eberan von Eberhorst, who had previously worked for Auto Union. Its independent front suspension and torsion-bar system gave the car excellent handling characteristics and a comfortable ride. The exterior styling reflected the sports car trends of the early 1950s, with flowing lines, separate front wings, and a low, elegant profile. The open-top roadster body offered an engaging driving experience, making the Jupiter popular among enthusiasts who appreciated both spirited driving and touring comfort. One of the Jupiter's most significant achievements was its success in motorsport. The model won its class at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1950, 1951, and 1952, demonstrating remarkable reliability and endurance. These victories helped establish the car's reputation internationally and showcased the engineering capabilities of the relatively small Jowett company.

Originally registered on 25th January 1952 this Jowett presents well in red, with a beige leather interior. Owned by enthusiasts of the marque, this Jupiter has been thoroughly enjoyed by the vendor. The engine was rebuilt in 2002, a new clutch fitted in 2009 and more recently the fuel pump has been replaced, as have the head gaskets. The often-troublesome water pump has also been replaced, not by a NOS example but with a freshly cast, modified unit. This Jowett Jupiter has been used regularly; however the time has come to pass this interesting piece of British motoring history on to a new owner. The Jowett Jupiter is considered a rare and highly collectible classic car. Consigned by Stewart Banks
