A notably late-production example derived from the celebrated Jaguar Mk2 lineage, this example presents with an especially appealing and characterful specification. Finished in a striking red-on-red colour combination, it is further enhanced by the presence of Coombs-style rear arches and a period Webasto folding roof, lending it both distinction and charm.

Originally specified as a 3.4-litre manual overdrive (MOD) factory example, it has since been uprated with the desirable 3.8-litre XK engine, offering a meaningful improvement in performance whilst remaining entirely sympathetic to the model’s character.

This particular example, registered in 1968, is among a limited run of just 2,265 right-hand drive factory-built 340 models, placing it firmly towards the end of production. Its manual overdrive transmission remains in situ, now paired to the larger 3.8-litre XK unit for enhanced drivability.

A comprehensive restoration undertaken during the late 1980s introduced its current colour scheme, which continues to suit it exceptionally well today. The addition of Coombs-style arches further elevates its visual presence.

Acquired by its current owner in 2017, the Jaguar was shortly thereafter the subject of a significant engine overhaul, with expenditure approaching £9,000. Since completion in 2018, it has seen minimal use, covering fewer than 2,000 miles and subsequently spending a period in storage.

More recently recommissioned, it is now accompanied by a voluntary MOT certificate valid through to May 2027, issued without advisories - an encouraging indication of its underlying structural integrity.

Externally, it benefits from an older respray, which although remains presentable, would undoubtedly benefit from attention and considered restoration; repaint in bright red, add leather bonnet straps and it would look amazing!

The brightwork appears complete with only minor age-related wear. The underside is reported to be in sound condition, further supported by the clean MOT record.

It sits upon painted wire wheels, complemented by a matching spare, all in good general order and shod with Pirelli tyres.

The cabin continues the red theme, with seats and carpets presenting well overall. Interior trim elements - including the headlining, door cards, and wood veneers - show some ageing but remain entirely in keeping with the character.

A Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel has been fitted, alongside a period-style radio. The inclusion of a folding Webasto vinyl sunroof enhances the sense of occasion, functioning as intended and adding to the touring appeal.

Combining the timeless elegance of the Mk2 design with the added performance of the 3.8-litre XK engine, this example represents a highly usable and engaging classic. With its manual overdrive gearbox, well-preserved interior, and desirable period features, it stands as an appealing proposition for those seeking a characterful and capable grand tourer.
