2019 BMW M5 Competition
“ Is this the last of the mighty M5's, with its glorious-sounding V8?? This even has the M Driver Pack. ”
This five-seat saloon can launch itself at the horizon at the rate of 211mph and is capable of lapping the Nürburgring in 7 minutes and 35 seconds.

Background
The BMW M5 F90, which first saw the light of day in 2017, is infamous as the first M5 to ditch rear-wheel drive in favour of sending the vehicle’s considerable power to all four wheels instead.

Fear not though because disabling the electronic stability control allows it to be configured to send the V8’s power to the rear axle, a feature that helped it win not one, but two world records for drifting.

The Competition you see here raises that still further, offering an official 617bhp and 553lb.ft of torque, allowing it to reach 62mph in a mind-boggling 3.1 seconds – and a test by Car and Driver magazine actually showed that was the figure at the wheels, which suggests there was considerably more at the flywheel…

And the madness doesn’t end there because if you wrote a cheque for the optional Driver Pack like this owner did, and the speedometer won’t stop moving until you’re covering the ground at 85 metres per second, or 190mph.

However, as America is discovering, power without control can be a scary thing so BMW stiffened and lowered the springs, dialled in a tad more front camber, and fitted different wheels.

Quite probably the last of the Mighty M5s, this might be your last chance to buy a performance BMW that sounds every bit as good as it goes.

Overview
Finished in Donington Grey with a Black Merino leather interior, ‘YH19 NVZ’

is a BMW M5 Competition that comes with a peerless service history and the desirable M Driver Pack that lifts the car’s top speed to 190mph.

Except this one will top even that thanks to a remap by DMS of Southampton, a firm whose Stage 1+ Package raises the power to a staggering 760bhp and torque to 690lb.ft, enough to lift the top speed to a ludicrous 211mph.

You’ll pass 60mph in 2.8 seconds too, and top three figures in just 6.3 while still retaining every single iota of civility BMW carefully engineered in. Unsurprisingly, the seller is clear it was worth every penny of the £1,980 it set him back in November 2020.

He splashed out for the BMW carbonfibre kit too, and since he’s owned it for more than six years these modifications have had plenty of time to bed in and prove their worth.

Estimate: £35,000 - £45,000
