The first versions of the T1 (Transporter 1st generation) were designated T1a. T1b was a vehicle with a slightly longer roofline above the front window and a smaller engine compartment. From model year 1963, the vehicles were designated T1c; the tailgate was wider. Additionally, in that same year, the hinged side loading doors were replaced by a sliding door. The introduction of what was initially called a heavy-duty Transporter - it could carry 1000 kg of cargo instead of 750 - proved so successful that this version became the standard Transporter. The model was available with a new 1493 cc engine (called 1.5L or '1500') that delivered 51 hp. After the Beetle was equipped with the same engine from 1967 onwards, the power was increased to 53 hp. This camper we are presenting here has been completely restored and looks like new! It was also appraised and received a Class 1 classification. This is the highest classification a valuer can assign.
